Aside from being a wife and mom of two sweet girls, I’m a Midwestern marketer who lives and breathes brand strategy and relationship building.
I’ve spent the last decade working with B2B and B2C clients from a variety of industries, including health care, finance, food and beverage, and more.

If your website traffic has quietly dropped over the past year, your marketing team isn’t necessarily to blame. The way patients find care has changed, and most healthcare organizations haven’t caught up yet.
Here is what happened, why it matters for the people you serve, and what to do about it.
For years, the goal of healthcare marketing was simple. Rank high on Google for the searches that mattered, earn the click, and guide the patient from your website to a booked appointment.
That path is breaking down. As of 2026, a majority of Google searches end without a single click to any website, because the answer now appears at the top of the page, generated by AI. On top of that, patients are increasingly skipping search engines entirely and asking tools like ChatGPT and Gemini questions in plain language. Instead of typing “cardiologist Omaha,” they are asking, “What kind of doctor should I see for chest pain that comes and goes, and who is good near me?”
The answer they receive is assembled by AI from across the internet. If your organization is part of that answer, you are in the consideration set before the patient ever visits a website. If you are not, you may never know the patient was looking.
This is the shift. Being found is no longer the same as being visible.
It would be easy to treat this as a technical problem about traffic and rankings. It is bigger than that. It is about patient access.
People are using AI to make sense of their health because it is faster, feels more private, more individualized, and less overwhelming than sorting through ten blue links while they are worried about a symptom. That is not a trend to fight. That is where your patients already are.
The question for you is not whether to participate. It is how to show up in those answers responsibly, so that the person on the other end gets accurate information, finds the care they need, and feels confident in choosing you. Healthcare should adapt to meet patients where they are standing. Our job is to keep them safe while we do it.
AI tools do not surface organizations the way old search engines did. A few things matter more now, and the good news is that healthcare organizations are well suited to all of them.
Here is the caveat you will not hear from a general marketing agency, and it is the most important part of this whole conversation.
In healthcare, many of the tactics that drive results in other industries need a compliance layer before you touch them. Capturing patient questions and sentiment to inform your content is genuinely useful, but the moment patient data is involved, security and privacy come first, without exception. There are safe, thoughtful ways to learn what your patients are asking and to show up in the answers they are searching for. There are also careless ways that put people at risk. The difference between the two is not always obvious, and it is exactly where a healthcare marketing partner earns their keep.
This is how we think about it at Bondi. Keep patient safety and data security at the top, always. Then, look for every opportunity to make your care more accessible, to answer the questions patients are actually asking, and to give them confidence in the care you provide. The compliance layer is not a reason to avoid this marketing shift. It is the reason to do it carefully, with someone who understands both sides.
You do not need to overhaul everything at once. If you want a place to start, start here.
The patients are already using these tools to find care. The organizations that meet them there, safely and clearly, will be the ones patients find and trust.
